For the
past 30 years, Mark has been writing and performing his own original songs
as well as those of other artists such as James Taylor, John Denver, John
Prine and Gordon Lightfoot, all of whom are musical heroes of his. Mark
has performed across the U.S. in venues like the State Fair of Virginia in
Richmond, where he has been a perennial favorite for the last 7 years, the
Rocky Mountain town of Aspen, Colorado, where he is invited to sing each
year at various events in a week-long tribute to the late John Denver, and
at coffee houses, festivals and other stages across the country.
In addition
to his solo appearances, Mark has been touring the U.S. with the very
popular "Friends With You" band for the past three years. In 2005,
after informally sharing Denver's music in Aspen, Mark teamed with Texas folk singer, Chris Collins, to form the "Friends
With You" band, four core musicians (with frequent guests) dedicated to preserving the music of John
Denver.
In 2002, Mark was nominated for FOLK ARTIST of the YEAR by
Cincinnati's CITY BEAT Magazine. Mark continues to perform on a regular
basis in and around the greater Cincinnati area.
A unique solo performer, Mark has released
seven CD's in the past eight years consisting of almost all original
material. Titles include: "Always in the Mood for You", "Times Like
These", "Log Cabin Christmas", "Hourglass" and "Mark Cormican - Live at
the Music Cafe". In October 2007 Mark's released his John Denver Tribute
CD "One Fine Autumn Day" (referring to the day Mr. Denver died in an
accidental plane crash in 1997). "Heading West", Mark's latest CD, was
released in October of 2008. It communicates his love for his wife, the West
and his dedication to preserving Grizzly Bear habitat through his
involvement in Vital Ground. A portion of the proceeds of "Heading West"
will benefit the Vital Ground Organization.
Personal:
Mark's

Taylor and Gordon Lightfoot. Mark says, "Through my own life experiences,
I have been able to relate to the messages in the music of those men."
Mark also appreciates the music of Jim Croce', Tom Paxton, Bill Danoff,
John Gorka and Mack Bailey.
